Only believe ...

What are we missing when reading the Bible? This Sunday was looking at false beliefs in Christian churches. Ferdi Louw included 3 videos into the message. The topic of "saved by believing in Jesus" also connects with this week's 500th celebration of the start of the Reformation when Luther nailed his 95 theses on a door.
The worship led by Terese and team lead us into a wonderful atmosphere of receiving grace from God, our loving Father.
The first funny video was "Left behind" by the SkitGuys to remind you of next Sunday's time change. After the reading test "How many F's" we watched "The Monkey Business Illusion" to test observational skills. The 3rd video was the animated Story of Blondin, a tight rope walker crossing the Niagara Falls.

Daniel and Jalene shared from their experiences in Jerusalem and now in Tel Aviv with the King of Kings ministry. James Ponak from Chilliwack came to lead the worship.

Unfortunately, we have lost the last 5 or 10 minutes of Daniel's talk due to technicalities..

Exodus 25:31-40 NIV 31 "Make a lampstand of pure gold and hammer it out, base and shaft; its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms shall be of one piece with it. 32 Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand-three on one side and three on the other. 33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. 34 And on the lampstand there are to be four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. 35 One bud shall be under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair-six branches in all. 36 The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold. 37 "Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it. 38 Its wick trimmers and trays are to be of pure gold. 39 A talent of pure gold is to be used for the lampstand and all these accessories. 40 See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

Prayer

Terrie Friesen was back as our guest speaker. He has a love for Keremeos and often prays for us. Today was a teaching on how to pray from his personal experience. Johan and Terese lead the worship. After the service there was a lot of valuable prayer time for those who wanted it. It was an inspiring time. Below the recording you can follow the slides Terrie used.

The steps Terrie uses in his prayer life:
1) Worship – Posture in Humility
2) Seek first the Kingdom – God’s will
3) Ask – Agreement – Authority
4) Declare – Release power and authority
5) Persist Until – release assurance
6) Receive – from Heaven to Earth
7) Release the burden – let God carry it
8) Anything Else?

Jesus & Holy Spirit

Pastor Dwayne's message on Jesus and Holy Spirit was delivered on 1 October 2017. The next week was the Thanksgiving celebration, and for 15 October, we are expecting Terry Friesen.

Romans 1:16-17 16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." NIV
John 16:7-8 7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: NIV
1 Corinthians 12:8-10 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. NIV
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. NIV
Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. NIV
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. NIV
