Why we do what we do

On Saturday we had an amazing time seeing how God changed some persons' lives in a short time through the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit.  Today pastor Dwayne started a new series focusing on what we do for God's kingdom.  "If Jesus suddenly appears in our midst and asks us: How is it going?"  What is working and what not?  This message is not using guilt to motivate.  Listen below.

Luke 4:18-19 NIV    18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
Matthew 8:16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
John 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
Matthew 25:18 But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
Matthew 25:24 "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. NIV
Matthew 28:19-20   19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." NIV

Grow! (Hear, repent, faith)

We had at least 3 testimonies of healings during the worship part of today's meeting!  Therefore the recording includes more of the worship service than normally. Thanks to Terese who had to lead on short notice, and to the people who were listening to God during the service.  We expect to hear more about healings of the brain that may have happened today.
Ferdi told us that we have to grow spiritually - it is not optional.  There is also a link between repentance and faith that is often missed by Christians.  The second video had no words, but you can read it below or watch it on youtube.
After the service we had good fellowship around a spaghetti lunch that the men have arranged on short notice.

Video 2 story complete:
A well-respected scholar and avowed atheist was speaking at a large outdoor picnic. He spoke for two and a half hours attempting to prove that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the church was groundless emotional nonsense because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions. After about 30 seconds, an old preacher stood up. "Sir, I have one question," he said as all eyes turned toward him. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple he had been eating. "My question is a simple question," he said before taking another bite of the apple. He continued, "I haven't read all the books you have, and I can't recite the Scriptures in the original Greek." He took a couple more bites of the apple and said, "I don't know a thing about Niebuhr and Heidegger."
He finished the apple and said, "All I wanna know is: this apple I just finished, was it tart or sweet?"
The speaker paused for a moment and answered in exemplary scholarly fashion, "I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven't tasted your apple."
The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into his crumpled paper bag and said calmly, "Neither have you tasted my Jesus."
Have you tasted Jesus?
"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. If you have, rejoice in the hope of the resurrection that your faith in Him brings." - Psalm 34:8
Video 1 conclusion:
The Bible answers that in 10 words:
  1. In the beginning (there's time)
  2. God created the heaven (there's space)
  3. and the earth (there's matter).
So you have time, space, matter created - a trinity of trinities.
Time is past, present, future.
Space has length, width, height.
Matter has solid, liquid, gas.
You have a trinity of trinities created instantaneously and the God who created them has to be outside of them. If He's limited by time He's not God.
The guy who created this computer is not in the computer. He's not running around in there changing the numbers on the screen.
The God who created this universe is outside of the universe. He's above it, beyond it, in it, through it. He's unaffected by it.
So the concept that of "a spiritual force cannot have any effect on a material body":
Well then I guess you'd have to explain to me things like emotions and love and hatred and envy and jealousy and rationality.
I mean if your brain is just a random collection of chemicals that formed by chance over billions of years, how on earth can you trust your own reasoning processes!?! And the thoughts that you think?
So I your your question: "Where did God come from?" is assuming a limited god and that's your problem.
The God that I worship is not limited by time, space or matter.
If I could fit the infinite God in my three-pound brain, then He would not be worth worshiping! That's for certain.
So that's the God that I worship!

1 Corinthians 13:9-13 NLT    9 Now we know only a little, and even the gift of prophecy reveals little! 10 But when the end comes, these special gifts will all disappear. 11 It's like this: When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God knows me now. 13 There are three things that will endure -- faith, hope, and love -- and the greatest of these is love.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV    22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
Mark 11:12-14   12 The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it. NIV
Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars -- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
Romans 5:3-5   3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. NIV
2 Peter 1:5-7   5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. NIV
James 1:2-5   2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. NIV
James 1:13-15   13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. NIV
John 6:66-69 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.  67 "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
Mark 1:14-15 NIV    14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NIV

Terese and the Africans lead us in a wonderful worship time where we adored Jesus. Many persons indicated that they heard God speaking to them.  In this atmosphere we listened to pastor Dwayne's message.  Some of the ideas were:
We are so unaware of the impact that our words and deeds may have.  Try to see this more from the perspective of God's time table.  See what is God's will.

Revelation 8:4-5   4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. NIV
Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

John 12:29 Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
Hebrews 12:1-2   1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. NIV
Hebrews 12:6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." NIV
1 Peter 1:10   10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, NIV

Isaiah 28:16 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.
Matthew 7:7-8   7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. NIV

Have you prayed for people and they didn't get healed? So has pastor Dwayne. Listen to this encouraging message to help us to see and hear what God wants. What do we expect in the end times?
The recording starts with Eleanor sharing a prophetic message, and later pastor Dwayne interviewed her and Eroca.  The song we listened to was "The Church Triumphant" by the Bill Gaither Trio.  Georgina speaks at the end.

Revelation 8:1-6 KJV    1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
John 12:29 Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. NIV
Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. NIV
Habakkuk 2:14 For the time will come when all the earth will be filled, as the waters fill the sea, with an awareness of the glory of the LORD. NLT
Romans 8:19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. NIV
Romans 8:21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. NIV
