Why does God do this?

Mike brought a clear simple response to the complex question "Why does God do this?". The promise "God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished" shines in this message. The recording starts with a testimony by Steve. Debra and Sonia blessed us by leading the worship.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  NLT
John 1:1-5   1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.  NLT
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! AMP
Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. NLT
John 5:17 But Jesus replied, "My Father is always working, and so am I." NLT
Philippians 2:12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. NLT
Philippians 1:8-11   8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. 9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation -- the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ -- for this will bring much glory and praise to God. NLT
Philippians 3:17-18   17 Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. 18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. NLT
Ephesians 4:23-32   23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God-- truly righteous and holy. 25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26 And "don't sin by letting anger control you." Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.  28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29 Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. 30 And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. NLT
Galatians 5:22-23   22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! NLT
1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God's garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God's building. AMP
Galatians 6:15 It doesn't matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. NLT
1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMP
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose]. Georgina told the ladies to remember to "Be the girl" (a lesson from their conference at Princeton) as the theme for Tuesday mornings' meetings.
Henry & Jan Tebrinke came to tell us about a grandparenting conference.
Pastor Dwayne showed how Christianity is a step above all other religions.  He compared how that would look in an election among religions. Listen below...

Psalms 135:15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see;
17 they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them.

Treasure in Christ

This Sunday, Denis Vaillancourt and his family was visiting from Vancouver and blessed us with songs and lead us in hymns. He says some of his songs are from the '60s - that is the 1860's!  We had fun and received blessings listening and joining him. At the end of the audio recording is one song by Denis.
There was pretty good feedback from last week's Ladies Conference at RockRidge Canyon near Princeton.
Pastor Dwayne's message was short and powerful: We have this massive treasure in what Christ gave us - do everything possible to obtain the treasure.

All My Hope - David Crowder
I've been held by the Savior
I've felt fire from above
I've been down to the river
I ain't the same, a prodigal returned

All my hope is in Jesus
Thank God that yesterday's gone
All my sins are forgiven
I've been washed by the blood

I'm no stranger to prison
I've worn shackles and chains
But I've been freed and forgiven
And I'm not going back, I'll never be the same. That's why I sing

There's a kind of thing that just breaks a man, break him down to his knees. I've been broken more than a time or two. Yes Lord then He picked me up and showed me
What it means to be a man
Come on and sing

This Sunday we had fresh worship with James Ponak who came from Chilliwack. Keremeos was quite an experience to him - he tells it in this recording - enjoy!
Many ladies was away at their conference at RockRidge Canyon. Everybody was supposed to turn up at church in their work clothes.
Pastor Dwayne gave new light on why and who would question God's goodness. We watched 2 video clips on how the 33 Chilean miners were rescued in 2010 and when the first miner was brought to the surface. Follow the stories of Daniel and his 3 friends who were rescued.
After church we shared a soup lunch together prepared by Mike and the soup kitchen helpers.

Daniel 3:1,5-6 NIV    1 King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feet wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 5 As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace."
Daniel 6:19-23   19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions' den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?" 21 Daniel answered, "O king, live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king." 23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. NIV

Religions like car dealers

Terese was assisted by her sister on a guitar for the singing. A few people brought very encouraging messages. Pastor Dwayne compared the main 5 religions to car dealerships to illustrate the contrast between Jesus' message and all religions.

John 14: 5-6 “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going,
so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
