We had a wonderful time in worship with James Ponak, who came all the way from Chilliwack to serve us by leading the worship. We prayed for Duncan & Maureen who are on their way to serve at Haggai International for some 3 months. Pastor Dwayne gave teaching on giving which includes finances. He was so motivated to do the teaching that he forgot to make time for the offering! ☺ Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NIV
Leviticus 27:30 "'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. NIV Malachi 3:8 NIV 8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. " But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings. "Why we do what we do" and "What works?" are the themes of this series. Today's topic was Levers & Finances, still looking at "Put God first" as the lever in life. Pastor Dwayne brought a crowbar to demonstrate. Please note that this was not a message to motivate people via guilt to give more money. God is very good to us. We said bye to Tiz who visited Keremeos for a number of months. Matthew 6: NIV 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Exodus 25:2 "Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give. Exodus 36:6-7 6 Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: "No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary." And so the people were restrained from bringing more, 7 because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work. NIV Today Lael had her first experience of leading our worship with the help of the Boshoffs. Thank you! We celebrated the Lord's Supper, lead by Marina (with a hoarse voice) and Ferdi. Pastor Dwayne continued the series on "Why we do what we do" by giving principles and laws that work. He gave a demonstration of a lever. He elaborated on worship and "Putting God first".
