Religions vs Work of Christ

4/30/2017

Pastor Dwayne started off on comparing various religions to what Jesus did for us. In the end we get an amazing revelation of the great love God has for us! In spite of some sound problems, we experienced the Holy Spirit working in hearts during worship time. We watched a video clip from pastor Dwayne's message at City Life Church last week ("The Hammer and the Anvil" and "The Purpose"); and a pre-view of Wednesday night's series by Craig Groeschel on Divine Direction (how does God lead us?). "What is your worth" is a video clip to remind you how valuable you are.

Matthew 11:28-29   28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. NIV
Ephesians 2:8-9   8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. NIV
Psalms 103:8,10-13 8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. NIV
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. NIV
Romans 8:35,37-39 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! NIV
Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, NIV
John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. NIV

The idea that Jesus socialized with sinners was expanded upon by pastor Jason Goertzen from Victoria. He had some shocking remarks/insights on what we think of politicians!
Jason gave very practical ideas on getting involved in the community and that Christians are not supposed just to huddle together. We have a whole world to conquer and love!  Jason also explained the "It's time" Pray BC campaign running until the May 9 election.
We watched a video clip (see below) from the 1 million man prayer meeting in South Africa the previous day (22 April) that also run under the slogan "It's time" - where a million people gathered to pray for their country.
Jason is full time involved with "Leading Influence" serving MLA's at the provincial assembly.

Luke 19:1-10   1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today."  6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.'" 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."
9 Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." NIV

Easter celebration 2017

We've made a move into the Legion Hall to have more space! Today was the first meeting there. So much joy to celebrate what Jesus has done for us, that we did not deserve.  A big worship team lead us giving praise and thanks to God. Pastor Dwayne's message is recorded below (with a bit too much echo in the new place). May you also experience the power of His resurrection in your life.

Isaiah 60:2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. NIV
Matthew 12:18, 21 NIV    18 "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 21 In his name the nations will put their hope."
1 Corinthians 2:7-8   7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. NIV
2 Corinthians 5:21, 19 NIV    21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Mark 5: Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man
1They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.a 2When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
9Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”20So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolisb how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

Prophetic debriefing

Last week was an amazing time with the prophetic ministry. Pastor Dwayne reflected on this experience and gave more perspective.  We have received so much encouragement.
In addition, Friday and yesterday some persons received more blessings thru a Sozo training session presented here for KCC.  Due to the space limitations we hope to move the Sunday meetings to the Legions Hall from next week.

Acts 2:16-18   16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. NIV
John 7:37-39   37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. NIV
Matthew 2:13, 20 NIV    13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." 20 and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."
John 15:14-15   14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. NIV
John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. NIV
1 Corinthians 14:3 But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. NIV

It was a very exciting Sunday and Monday with the visiting team from Chilliwack.
Pastor Kirk Duncan with his excellent sense of humor gave a short practical message (see main points below).
Mike and George were confirmed as deacons and the congregation was charged with supporting them.
Rachel helped the worship team from the keyboard.
The building was packed and we followed up with 2 more meetings in the evenings.
The persons who received personal prophetic messages may review them at the 2017 April PM page (password required).

Life after a prophetic word
Don't give in to discouragement
Don't become discouraged with life
Do challenge your attitude
Don't dominate or dictate
Don't let disappointment spoil your personality
Don't let envy corrupt you
Don't take yourself too seriously
Don't compare yourself to others
Don't lose your eagerness/expectations
Do keep a good spirit and good attitude

1 Timothy 1:18 Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, NIV
Psalms 139:23-24   23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. NIV
1 Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. NIV
Philippians 3:13-15   13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. NIV
