What is the use of reading the Bible? Mike's message will motivate you to get more out of the Word.  The song we listened to was "Word of God Speak" by MercyMe. Homework is to read Psalm 119.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. NLT
John 1:1-5   1 In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make. 4 Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone. 5 The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. NLT
John 1:14 So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. NLT
1 Peter 1:23 For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. NLT
John 17:17 Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth. NLT
Matthew 4:4 But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God.'" NLT
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are. NLT
Ephesians 6:17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. NLT
Psalms 119 was homework!

Ambassadors for Christ

"There is not one useless person here." was Gord Sonnichsen's observation. We are called to represent Christ everyday, and you can do it. He also elaborated on the importance of God's Word. The recording starts with a reminder by Mike (meet God) and a prophetic word by Helga.  Johan, Danielle, Lael and Steve made up the worship team.  During Gord's message we listened to a rendition of "Even if" by MercyMe and Wayne Cordeiro's report of teaching in an underground church in China.
And today we experiment with video recordings! (The audio recording has better sound than the video.)

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NASB    17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Matthew 28:18-19   18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, NASB
2 Timothy 3:16 - 4:5 NASB    16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.  3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Revelation 3:14-18 NASB    14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: 15 'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.  17 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

False Jesus

Among other religions, we looked at 2 religions that preach a different Jesus from the Jesus we learn from the Bible. It is a short recording capturing just the last part of pastor Dwayne's message, a song by Danielle and Terese; and an encouragement by Georgina. Please enjoy and be encouraged!
Please accept our apology for the technical problems we experienced in this recording.

Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. NIV
2 Corinthians 11:3-4   3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. NIV
Isaiah 14:13-14   13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." NIV
Psalms 89:26 He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.' NIV
John 20:28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" NIV
Acts 5:3-4   3 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." NIV
Matthew 14:33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." NIV
Isaiah 64:8 Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. NIV
John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. NIV
Job 26:13 By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent. NIV

Believing in Jesus is WAY DIFFERENT from all other faiths - was pastor Dwayne's message.  The recording start with encouragement by James Ponak who was our visiting worship leader from City Life in Chilliwack.  There was a poem written and read by Eleanor.
Sorry for the microphone problems we experienced in spots in the message.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. NIV
