First we had an awesome time of worship. Then today was the launch of our new team for the children's church.  What a team!  Pastor Dwayne showed us from history and the Bible what often happens after a revival.  We were encouraged to seek more growth in our spiritual lives.

Terese lead the worship time. There were encouraging messages included. Wilma gave her experience of the ladies' fall event and the following meeting where pastor Keri Harvey was speaking.  Pastor Dwayne gave us an insightful overview of some recent revivals and history teaches us from there.

Isaiah 54:1-4
1 "Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.
2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.
3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.
4 "Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
Ephesians 4:1-4
1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called
Romans 12:18  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
A study (based on the 2010 world population of 6.9 billion) by The Pew Forum, says:
  • 2,173,180,000 Christians (31%), of which 50% are Catholic, 37% Protestant, 12% Orthodox.
  • 1,598,510,000 Muslims (23%), of which 87-90% are Sunnis, 10-13% Shia.
  • 1,033,080,000 Hindus (15%), the overwhelming majority (94%) of which live in India.

Is sin exciting?

We had a wonderful worship service with Terese leading and quite a few encouraging messages that were recorded.  Ferdi did the preaching and if you are in rush to get to the exciting sins, skip the first 10 minutes of the recording! :-)
Instant gratifications, fun, exciting, satifying    *  Speeding
                   *  Lying

               *  Gossip
               *  Over-eat
               *  Drunk
Other sins:
* Addiction (want to but can’t change)
* Legalism/tradition (leads to false guilt or pride)
* Unbelief (leads to Fear/Anxiety)
* Unforgiveness (bitterness)

Sin is not fun - it is a burden.
God wants us to be free and have abundant life

Hebrews 12:1,2 ... let us strip off every weight that slows us down,
especially the sin that so easily trips us up.
And let us run with endurance
the race God has set before us.
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus ...
---
Drop it!
---
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.
And you will know the truth,
 and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31,32

Love defeats fear
And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.
So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because
we live like Jesus here in this world.
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
1 John 4:17,18 (NLT)

Love and obedience
John 14:23 AMP Jesus answered,
“If anyone [really] loves Me,
he will keep My word (teaching);
John 14:15-17 AMP
15 “If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper
(Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever — 17 the Spirit of Truth,

Forgiveness
You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well.

It takes one person to forgive, it takes two people to be reunited.
- Art of Forgiving by Lewis B. Smedes

Today, just take one aspect of your life that needs change.  Decide today.

Not by your own power.
You are not good enough.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
Luke 11:11-13
“You fathers, if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg,
do you give them a scorpion?
Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
1 John 4:13 (NLT) And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us
John 14:15-17 AMP
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever — 17 the Spirit of Truth,

What should I believe?
1. My life is entrusted to Jesus
2. God loves me
3. There is victory
4. The truth is true – if it doesn’t work the fault is not God’s, but mine.
5. Confess what I believe.

Walk with the Holy Spirit

9/8/2019

We had a farewell-blessing for Jadiel.  Mike brought a strong message about the Holy Spirit who is often ignored.  We hope you'll find it enlightening.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
21  It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ.
 He has commissioned us,
22  and He has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised us.
2 Corinthians 3:6 He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant.
This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit.
The old written covenant ends in death;
but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.
Picture
2 Corinthians 3:8 Shouldn't we expect far greater glory under the new way,
 now that the Holy Spirit is giving life?
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
17  For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18  So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.
 And the Lord --who is the Spirit-- makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Galatians 3:2-5
2  Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not!
 You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ.
3  How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
4  Have you experienced so much for nothing?
 Surely it was not in vain, was it?
5  I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law?
 Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.

Ephesians 2:19-20
19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family. 20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. NLT
