Power of Love

James Ponak from Chilliwack came to bless us again by leading the worship time.  Thanks James!  Samuel gave a testimony on his experiences since he has been at Launch with City Life Church and then his first year at college in Langley (Trinity Western University).  Ferdi brought the message to challenge us to grow in love, with some grace, mercy, levers and works thrown into the mix!

John 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Psalms 38:14-15 NIV    14 I have become like a man who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply. 15 I wait for you, O LORD; you will answer, O Lord my God.
Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. NLT
1 John 3:1 See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children, and we really are!
Hebrews 10:25   25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. NIV
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. NIV
Come work for the Lord!
The hours are very long, the pay is not much, but:
The retirement benefits ... are out of this world!
1 Corinthians 2:9 "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."
Galatians 6:7-10 NLT    7 Don't be misled. Remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow! 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. 9 So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. 10 Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters.
To dwell above, with the saints I love,
that is blissful glory.
But to dwell below, with the saints I know,
that is a different story!

Matthew 6:20-21   20 Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be. NLT
Ephesians 2:8-9   8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. NIV
1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions. NLT

Worship time was rich with the support of the Boshoffs in the team.
Enjoy the advantages that God provides through his instructions.  We had a panel discussion on applications of the principle "Putting God first", with pastor Dwayne, Mike and Ferdi in the panel.  Various ideas were also contributed from the audience.

Matthew 6:33
New International Version
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
New Living Translation
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
English Standard Version
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
King James Bible
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Amplified Bible
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

Matthew 6:19-21 NLT    19 "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.
Matthew 25:34-40 NLT    34 Then the King will say to those on the right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' 37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?' 40 And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'
Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. NIV
Proverbs 3:9-10   9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. NIV
Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done. NIV
2 Corinthians 9:7,11 NIV    7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

We had a wonderful time following the story the story of Jesus' death and resurrection, with the emphasis on what is God's intentions and emotions behind the story. We ended at the reality of what He did in today's time.  Tanya and Marge shared their testimonies to God's real work in their lives.  There was no recording but some people asked for the video clips that were used.  It started light hearted but video number 3 was the one with the most impact.
1. A Scottish three year old's take...

2. The Skit Guys are trying to connect all the different Jesus's. You can only preview it here.

3. John 3:16 - The Story of Love.  Please do watch this 18 minute clip - it will make a huge impact on your experience of God, the Father. This is a narration based on the short movie "Most (in Check)" or "Bridge".
4.  Mary at the grave tells of her experience - Who Do You Say I Am?
5. Resurrection story from the Visual Bible in Matthew 28.  This dramatized reading provides the indisputable facts of what really happened in history.
6. Tanya's testimony. How God can give you more than what money can buy.
