Ephesians 5:21-27|NIV
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:32|NIV This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. |
Matthew 16:18|NIV And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Hebrews 13:8|NIV Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Leviticus 10:1-2|NIV 1 Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, contrary to his command. 2 So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. Acts 5:4-5|NIV 4 Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. |
Are all churches good? Pastor Dwayne started from Ephesians 5 looking at the parallels of a good marriage and the relationship between Jesus and his church.

Last week was Easter and pastor Dwayne started with a 10 minute reflection on how well we know Jesus. It is followed with a message in the series "Why do we do what we do?" Is meeting together as church a case of life vs death, or is it optional for responsible Christians?
"Jesus didn't say that!" The Greek word, "ekklesia", in the New Testament was centuries later translated as "church" which came from "kuriakon".
So which church is the right church?
Marina brought the message while pastor Dwayne was attending to family.
You have received a mantle from God on your life. How not to miss it.
Every person built into God's church is very unique. God knows how to build.
Where does our calendar come from?
Pastor Dwayne Trelenberg asked are we the best church?
What has happened to other churches here in Keremeos and in Canada over the last decades? Do we need to be organized this way?
Matthew 16:18,16
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Colossians 1:6 All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth. Ephesians 4:1-3 1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body — whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Pastor Dwayne interviewed his son, Jordan Trelenberg, so that we can learn from his testimony about God's power to change lives.
Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.
Pastor Dwayne compares how the Holy Spirit operated in the Old Testament with people like David, Gideon, Samson, Moses, Joshua, etc. and in the New Testament it seems slightly different.
We also hear a part of his personal testimony.
Controversies about the Holy Spirit are often handled with foolish and stupid arguments, that have even led to denominational divisions.
Pastor Dwayne highlights some of the facts from scripture and from church history.
Last week the emphasis was on love one another, and this week we look at the amazing infinite love from God our Father. Ferdi was the speaker and this message used material from https://www.FathersLoveLetter.com/ where you are welcome to explore more and obtain the lists of scriptures used.

With pastor Dwayne away to attend to family, Ferdi brought a message on the importance of unity, with some practical spiritual exercises attached:
Pastor Dwayne gives more insight on the working of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 6:12|NIV For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Hebrews 4:16|NIV Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Acts 1:8|NIV But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 2:3-4|NIV 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Acts 28:8-10
8 His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him and, after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him. 9 When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured. 10 They honored us in many ways and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed. Acts 27:33-38 33 Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. "For the last fourteen days," he said, "you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food — you haven't eaten anything. 34 Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head." 35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. 36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves. 37 Altogether there were 276 of us on board. 38 When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.
Pastor Dwayne questions why we do some things in church. Today we examine the role of the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
1 Corinthians 3:1-2 1 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly — mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 1 Corinthians 14:40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
