Pastor Dwayne's message gave light on these questions: What was God's purpose (or plan) with us? How has it been changed over the ages since Jesus was resurrected?
Is it easy to be a partner with God? What does that involve?
Pastor Jason Goertzen from Leading Influence was our guest speaker this week.
He introduced his colleague, Fred Hill, the chaplain for Saskatchewan's legislative assembly. https://Leadinginfluence.com We heard some testimonies, with a lot of humor. Pastor Jason had an encouraging word for people persevering through hard times. Also for those of us who were hurt and sit with very tense relationships. The main message taught us how to be the Good News message by imitating Jesus.
Pastor Jason Goertzen from Leading Influence was our guest speaker this week.
He first shared a bit about the work at Canada's parliaments with politicians. He also included a personal testimony of seeing God's power at work. God wants to bless you to be a blessing. What is your calling? Sometimes people try to "help" God when they think things are not going to work out. Wisdom and revelation: What is the difference and value of it? https://Leadinginfluence.com/ https://ChristianRootsCanada.org/the-Location-of-the-25-scriptures-on-Parliament-Hill/
Last week was a panel discussion with 3 fathers about raising children.
This week pastor Dwayne looks at Biblical ways for parenting with the emphasis that God is a good Father! If you have made mistakes, there are ways to change it. God can repair where we have made a mess.
In the past pastor Dwayne covered being born again, being filled by the Holy Spirit and recently how we do "church".
It is commonly believed that you can be a Christian without going to church, but what example do we have nowadays? How does this influence your personal testimony?
Pastor Dwayne's message covered:
We are human, we can fail and fall. But God gave us an identity in Him.
We are not perfect, therefore we would mess up a perfect church when we join.
Do you want to be a "successful" Christian? Learn how God's divine power has given us all we need to participate in His divine nature.
We use the Sunday opportunity at Keremeos' annual rodeo to invite people who are not church going, to join a Christian event.
Troy Mac came from Saskatchewan (https://www.facebook.com/Troy.MacNaughton) to entertain us. Pastor Dwayne spoke on the memories we make and the damage of bad memories.
For our mothers' day celebration, Marina and her children participated in a panel discussion on being family.
Pastor Dwayne shared about our responsibility towards church and God. The gifts that we all have received may not be wasted.
There are again parallels between family life and church life.
Pastor Dwayne compared the creation in Paradise with the creation of the church. Central to it is what and how we commit in marriage.
Terry Friesen brought a message to encourage us to walk deeper with Jesus.
Listen to what God is telling you. Terry also shared some personal testimonies. We also honoured Terry's dad, Art, for all the blessings he brought to the family.
Are all churches good? Pastor Dwayne started from Ephesians 5 looking at the parallels of a good marriage and the relationship between Jesus and his church.
Last week was Easter and pastor Dwayne started with a 10 minute reflection on how well we know Jesus. It is followed with a message in the series "Why do we do what we do?" Is meeting together as church a case of life vs death, or is it optional for responsible Christians?
"Jesus didn't say that!" The Greek word, "ekklesia", in the New Testament was centuries later translated as "church" which came from "kuriakon".
So which church is the right church?
Marina brought the message while pastor Dwayne was attending to family.
You have received a mantle from God on your life. How not to miss it.
Every person built into God's church is very unique. God knows how to build.
Where does our calendar come from?
Pastor Dwayne Trelenberg asked are we the best church?
What has happened to other churches here in Keremeos and in Canada over the last decades? Do we need to be organized this way?
Matthew 16:18,16
18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Colossians 1:6 All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth. Ephesians 4:1-3 1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body — whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Pastor Dwayne interviewed his son, Jordan Trelenberg, so that we can learn from his testimony about God's power to change lives.
Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.
Pastor Dwayne compares how the Holy Spirit operated in the Old Testament with people like David, Gideon, Samson, Moses, Joshua, etc. and in the New Testament it seems slightly different.
We also hear a part of his personal testimony.
Controversies about the Holy Spirit are often handled with foolish and stupid arguments, that have even led to denominational divisions.
Pastor Dwayne highlights some of the facts from scripture and from church history.
Last week the emphasis was on love one another, and this week we look at the amazing infinite love from God our Father. Ferdi was the speaker and this message used material from https://www.FathersLoveLetter.com/ where you are welcome to explore more and obtain the lists of scriptures used.
