Giving!

We had a wonderful time in worship with James Ponak, who came all the way from Chilliwack to serve us by leading the worship.
We prayed for Duncan & Maureen who are on their way to serve at Haggai International for some 3 months.
Pastor Dwayne gave teaching on giving which includes finances. He was so motivated to do the teaching that he forgot to make time for the offering! ☺

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NIV
Leviticus 27:30 "'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. NIV    Malachi 3:8 NIV    8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. " But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings.
Proverbs 3:9-10   9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. NIV
Deuteronomy 26:1-2   1 When you have entered the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it, 2 take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land the LORD your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name NIV
Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward him for what he has done.
Exodus 25:2-7 2 "Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give. 3 These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 5 ram skins dyed red and hides of sea cows; acacia wood; 6 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7   6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. NIV
2 Corinthians 9:10-11   10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

I used to hate people who are too demanding and tend to ask for things from time to time. They want food and gifts and they are not ashamed to make requests. Lately I realised they should be the same people we should admire because normally those people who are inclined to expect more from us are the same people who are willing to go the extra mile just to help us when we are in need and we don't even need to ask. This is why they don't really understand how come some people are so stingy. They just keep on asking because they think it's always give and take, not keep and hide.
