A Sunday service without preaching! Very worthwhile to listen what these people shared from their practical experience. We celebrated the Lord's Supper and then pastor Dwayne Trelenberg interviewed Steve and Cathy about the good things they have to share and how they do it. Steve and Terese lead the communion. The talks start at 11 minutes in the recording. |
New International Version
So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
New Living Translation
Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.
The Message
4-7 But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent his Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that he might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage. You can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of his Son into our lives crying out, “Papa! Father!” Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And if you are a child, you’re also an heir, with complete access to the inheritance.
Terese: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
23 I passed on to you the tradition the Lord gave to me: On the same night the Lord Jesus was betrayed, He took the bread in His hands; 24 and after giving thanks to God, He broke it and said, “This is My body, broken for you. Keep doing this so that you and all who come after will have a vivid reminder of Me.” 25 After they had finished dinner, He took the cup and in the same way said, “This cup is the new covenant, executed in My blood. Keep doing this; and whenever you drink it, you and all who come after will have a vivid reminder of Me.” 26 Every time you taste this bread and every time you place the cup to your mouths and drink, you are declaring the Lord’s death, which is the ultimate expression of His faithfulness and love, until He comes again. John 1:40 Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. NIV
John 1:41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). NIV
John 1:45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote — Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." NIV
John 1:46 "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip. NIV
Cathy:
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
